Germany and Japan: Back Together, and Ready to Get the Band (and Tanks) Back Together! Again!

In a move that has historians (and possibly a few ghosts) collectively facepalming, Germany and Japan, those old pals from the '40s, are reportedly re-upping their military might. Apparently, 80 years wasn't quite enough time to thoroughly digest the 'lessons learned' portion of the last global unpleasantness. Industry insiders note that this new alliance, forged over cups of darjeeling and the shared trauma of too much introspection, is purely for 'defensive purposes.' Naturally. One can almost hear the quiet hum of newly polished panzers and the gentle clatter of rising sun flags being unfurled, all under the auspices of 'stability' and 'regional partnership.' It seems some bonds are just too strong to break, even when those bonds historically led to, well, quite a bit of breaking. So pop the schnapps and sake, folks, the gang's all back!
